Meet the Fluffy Femme

Hi everyone! I'm calling myself Fluffy Femme for the time being, but hopefully not for very long. I've decided to get in shape and this blog will be my journal during my journey to being a Buff Betty. I'm a 28 year old teacher, graduate student, and wife. About a year ago I moved to my home state with my husband who got stationed here (he's active duty Army). I was thrilled to "come home" and then realized I was in hell - I have very little in common with the locals and the town is about a tenth of the size of my last residence, meaning in the past year I've pretty much met everyone in the town. There is no movie theater, no dance club, no bookstore, no coffeshop, no mall, no sit-down restaurant chains, no bars, no movie rental place...get the picture? Since there is nothing to do here, I've decided to spend all of my extra free time working out and getting in shape. Something good will come from this duty station!

Here we go!

I've decided to keep a blog about my most recent quest to get fit. Maybe by keeping a journal and then sharing it with everyone, I'll stay motivated to really get in shape and stay that way!

My decision to defluff and get buff occurred for a few reasons. Firstly, I've always struggled with my weight, so this is almost a yearly decision I make...and obviously don't keep since it has to occur yearly! Secondly, I live in the most boring, yucky town ever and there is absolutely nothing to do here, so why not work out? Lastly, my husband came home one day and said, "Hey, let's do p90x." To this I replied, "Is that in the Kama Sutra?" Of course, I knew what he was talking about, but is he insane?! I can't do a push up, much less an hour of that ridiculousness I'd seen on tv. Finally I told him to give me 30 days and then I would do it with him. I need the 30 days because it's been awhile since I've really exerted myself and I thought if I could get through Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, I could then maybe attempt p90x.

So far I'm on day 6 of 30. Jillian still scares the hell out of me. I can't cheat at her workout because I'm afraid she will yank me through the tv and bench press me while calling me a pansy! Needless to say, she's intense. I'm making it through the workout decently and also taking a aerobic swim class twice a week - that's a whole other entertaining venture that I'll talk more about later. I suppose I should start a serious diet with all of this sweating and grunting. I actually like exercising, but I cannot say the same about dieting. I love to eat. I mean, I REALLY love it. Sugar is my weakness. So are carbs. And fried things. And Coca-cola (which I think must still have cocaine in it because I'm an addict!) And things coated in gravy. Do you see my problem? Since I cannot forsake these things completely, I'm doing my best to cut back on them.

I took some "before" pictures and I'll post them together with my "after" pictures in 24 days. I also took my measurements, which I will post at the same time as the pictures. I can't bear to reveal my fluffiness without something better to put next to it. Call me vain, but hey, few people have seen my flubber in all its glory, so I'll wait to subject y'all to me oozing out of a bikini. Let's just say right now, I've got so much muffin-top, you can call me Otis Spunkmeyer.

Well, I think that about covers it. Wish me luck and join me if you'd like! I would love some company.
